CONGRATULATIONS Stephen Lewis Music !
On February 20, 2008, Stephen Lewis Secondary School competed in the Golden Horseshoe MusicFest in Hamilton, under the direction of Hubert Brard, Director. The Lynx Senior Band (Grade 10-11) placed a stellar Gold and The Lynx Junior Winds (Grade 9) placed an exceptional Silver. The adjudicators were very impressed with the overall musicality, maturity and sense of team of both ensembles. As a result of these wins, Stephen Lewis is invited to the Nationals in Ottawa in May.

Welcome to SLSS-MUSIC! Hopefully, after a restful and humid summer, you are now as excited as I am to continue our legacy at SLSS-MUSIC! We had a very interesting, fun and action packed first year opening our school; our second year will be even more action packed with the introduction of THE LYNX JUNIOR WINDS, and the inception of THE LYNX SENIOR WINDS! Check out our ensembles in the Music Teams to learn more about the leadership and teamwork opportunities in which you would like to be involved. Also, get an audio glimpse of our repertoire (or you may want to suggest some repertoire for us) - check out Music Publishers and Recordings.

Music Courses for 2007-2008

These include: Grade 9 Beginner and Experienced Band (cojoined classes), Grade 10 Experienced Band, Grade 11 Experienced Band, and Grade 10/11 Beginner-Experienced Guitar; courses include MAC technology. These courses are designed to be consecutive whereby Stephen Lewis music students prepare for post-secondary studies. It is an absolute pleasure to have you visit the MUSIC DEPARTMENT website! Here at Stephen Lewis we believe that learning is for everyone; we bring that philosophy to life!!

Check out the site! We have fun and we get lots of work done between rehearsing for our Arts Banquets (including Arts Awards Night), to preparing for competitions and festivals. From sharing our leadership muscles in both the INTEGRATED ARTS COUNCIL and in THE MUSIC LYNX, to developing our teamwork in all our ensembles. SLSS-MUSIC is the place to be to prepare for future teamwork, leadership and co-operative working environments.

So, remember, do something you enjoy ... enjoy something different ... think differently: outside the box ... bring Mr. Brard coffee ... get involved in leadership ... teamwork is the key to leadership ...
