Guidance OfficeThe Student Services department helps students with academic and career planning, both by teaching classes and working with students individually. Counsellors are also available to help students with personal concerns and to make referrals to community agencies and social services. Each student has been assigned a counsellor.

Student Services Staff
Counsellors are assigned to students alphabetically according to the student's surname. Each student has a counsellor.

  • Mrs. Quennell, Head of Guidance (A-J)
  • Mrs. Burroughs (K-M and ESL)
  • Mrs. Fisher, Counsellor (N-Z)
  • Mrs. Dubeau (Co-operative Education and Guidance)
  • Mr. Bhupsingh (Co-operative Education and Career Studies)

Parents/guardians wishing to speak to their child's counsellor should contact Mrs. Chorley, Guidance Secretary, at 905-363-0289 ext 420.

Guidance and Career Education
Counsellors are available to help students make important decisions about courses and future plans, and also to help talk through whatever concerns you may have. Guidance services are available to everyone. Simply come in and ask the guidance secretary to make an appointment for you to see your counsellor, if you

  • want career information
  • have concerns about your goals
  • have questions about your courses
  • want to know how to succeed in school
  • have a personal concern

Educational Planning
As students and their parents/guardians look ahead in their educational planning, they should check out these websites and take a look at our Career Planner Form (.pdf).

Community Involvement Activities

As stated in Ontario Secondary Schools, Grades 9 to 12: Program and Diploma Requirements 1999 (OSS), every student who begins secondary school during or after the 1999-2000 school year must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities as part of the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The purpose of the community involvement requirement is to encourage students to develop awareness and understanding of civic responsibility and the role they can play and the contributions they can make in supporting and strengthening their communities. Community involvement activities are part of the school's program.

More information is available in the school Guidance Department, the Volunteer Centre of Peel or The Peel District School Board website section Your Time Counts.

Timetable Changes
All students are encouraged to make thoughtful and appropriate course choices, in collaboration with their parents/guardians, teachers and counsellor. Some changes, however, may be accommodated at certain times in the school year. Student must check announcements for the next opportunity to change their selections. It must be understood that, due to staffing and timetable restrictions, not all change requests can be accommodated.
